thank you, goodnight

17th October 2011

I’m sure a lot of you have already noticed but for the past few months I’ve really been struggling to keep up with Hard Feelings and the site’s gone from 4-6 posts a day to maybe one. I started a business with my wife Kristy called HAM last year and kind of to my surprise, we’ve been really successful. That’s good news for us but bad news for all of the other projects I have going on. On top of it, I’ve also opened a small screen printing shop with my friend Ghost. If I’m not working 12 hours a day in the office, I’m pulling screens at the studio.

Right now, I just feel like I don’t have the time to make Hard Feelings the kind of site that it should be. I haven’t been able to put together features like the ol’ days and it’s even getting to the point that it’s difficult to post on the daily. No good. The last thing I want to do with this site is a half assed job, the artists that I love to feature here deserve a lot more than a rushed post at 4AM.

SO, what does that mean for HF? For now, I’m going to be stepping back and putting the site on indefinite hiatus. I’d love to come back to regular posts and features sometime down the road but frankly, I’m just not sure when that’ll be or if it’ll even happen at all.

I want to say thanks to everyone out there who read the posts, got involved with contests and projects, the other bloggers who worked with me, gave advice and were just awesomely supportive and especially to all of the artists who I had a chance to get to know and who sent their work this way, gave away their awesome shit and took the time to do interviews and features. Every one of you rules. HARD.

I’m still going to be updating the HF Tumblr with inspirational stuff and you can check out my business and follow me on Twitter if you’re so inclined.

30th June 2011

You can call me envious or spiteful or whatever but I think some people seriously got an unfair amount of talent at birth. Jay Nelson‘s one of those people. In addition to making these crazy beautiful Frankenstein-vehicles (see: Honda Civic camper), he’s also an amazing abstract painter. Paintings under the jump!

mark gonzales in nyc

27th June 2011

It’s been raining way too much for June + it’s been keeping me down. All I want to do is hit the beach + skate a little bit. It’s sunny today, so this clip kind of doesn’t make any sense but it’s one of my favorite skate parts + it gets me outside when I’m stuck at my desk. Hopefully it does the same for you.

memory tapes-yes i know

14th June 2011

This is one of those videos that is so unbelievably visual that you honestly end up not caring one way or the other if the song it accompanies is any good. Good thing too,  the song isn’t anything special. Concepted, directed + animated by the uber-talented Eric Epstein. Check out the video after the jump!

tourisms

9th May 2011

This has potential to be really cool as it grows. Tourisms is a site dedicated to travel guides created by + featuring photographers. Each guide includes a series of the photographers work from a specific region or regions, essential listening + reading and a brief list of do’s + don’ts. A couple of my favorites are already contributors to the site, so I’m keeping a close eye on this sucker as it develops. You should too.
