Check out this insane video made by Eran Amir, which is essentially, a bunch of stop motion videos…within a stop motion video. Filmed with 500 participants holding over 1500 photos. Nuts!

Duh. Why hasn’t someone done this already? Josh Maready strapped a GoPro to the bottom of his deck + skated through New York and what resulted was this amazing video of the skateboards point of view. The video could only have been better if the US Bombs’ “Jaks” were used as the soundtrack but hey, beggars, choosers, etc etc.

It’s been raining way too much for June + it’s been keeping me down. All I want to do is hit the beach + skate a little bit. It’s sunny today, so this clip kind of doesn’t make any sense but it’s one of my favorite skate parts + it gets me outside when I’m stuck at my desk. Hopefully it does the same for you.

I don’t think we’ve ever posted any lookbooks or reviews of new collections on the site. Most likely because most tend to be highly (and predictably) stylized in only a handful of ways. They are, almost always, overwrought and boring. The summer 2011 lookbook from HUF stands out from the pack. No soundtrack music, a new kind of pace — seems to make sense for the heat and the year.

I love getting tattooed and it’s nice to see that in the midst of all the craft/trade behind the scenes videos that have been popping up more and more over the last year, a great shop like N.Y. Adorned is getting a tasteful treatment in the format. Directed by Evan Dennis.

Last night was the opening of iImage, a portrait show that I’ve been patiently waiting for at the Portsmouth M of A. It did not disappoint. On paper, a portrait collection at a modern art museum sounds a bit tired but I’d had the chance to talk to Cathy, the museum’s excellent director a few months ago + get the lowdown on the show. It’s a singular idea that they were able to turn into a sprawling landscape for more mediums than you’d expect from any show. There’s always one piece in PMA’s exhibits that totally wows me — this time around it was this bonkers Michael Ferris Jr. bust that stands at least 6 feet high, 4 feet wide.

The show runs through April and includes pieces from Laylah Ali, Michael Ferris Jr., Jowhara AlSaud, Noah Kalina, Evan Roth, WK Interact + lots more.

Check out this dope short film Riding September that follows a group of motorcyclists through winding snake-spine backroads, presumably during the fall. Produced by Paris’ HUSH for Riding September the site, in association Blitz Motorcycles. Good looking bikes on beautiful back roadsin September? Can’t go wrong.

I also want to add, I’ve noticed that cafe racers, vintage bikes + custom culture as a whole have become kind of a hip thing to be “into” over the last year or so, which is all well + good but I’m really hoping that all of these second hand videos and photography popping up on arts and culture sites (like mine, admittedly) are actually encouraging people to go out + get their MC licenses + start riding. It doesn’t just look cool, guys, it really is one of the greatest feelings in the world to pull back on that throttle and jump down the street on a warm summer day. Go ride!
