When I first tripped over the work of Brandon Blommaert, more specifically, when I first found the series “Eco Station”, I wasn’t entirely sure what I was looking at. Straight up photo manipulation? Sculpture? Mixed media? Turns out it was kind of all three. There are some great photos in Brandon’s Flickr that explore the process behind creating these arresting images.

Click through for a killer gif too, part of a hefty series of gifs. I don’t think I’ve ever said anything positive about gif’s before, so you’re going to have to trust me that they’re worthwhile.
