esquivel

30th August 2010

I could watch a skilled tradesperson working at their craft all day long. Any trade would do but cobblers have always had a special place in my heart. It’s a trade that seems more akin to metalsmithing than it does to any other craft under the ‘fashion’ umbrella. It’s amazing how much grit + labor going into making a good pair of shoes. This short, made by David Hubert + Olivier Staphylas for Esquivel shoes relies heavily on the textures + sounds from a cobblers studio.
