Adam Medley is the guy behind The pleasure is back, a longtime (and ongoing) project with a quite simple MO, couple a vintage advertisement with some kitschy piece of copy from a completely separate ad, wash, rinse, repeat. Some of the combinations (or Medleys, if you will, ZING BAM) are cute + funny while others are cutting + weighty. In Adam’s words, “…the mission of the project is to now have people happily buy crap carrying slogans of how great it is to be happy and buy crap in a way that’s less ironic than it is a sincere expression of their desperate embrace of the overwhelming, inescapable forces of consumerism in the 21st century.” He also has mugs for sale.
