San Diego’s Aron Wiesenfeld paints with a style + voice cryptic enough to afford viewers free reign in creating their own narrative for his work. Maybe that’s a conscious decision or maybe it’s not. I personally enjoy assigning scenarios to Aron’s characters, who most often have the look of young runaways or drifters, although they never look lost in their expressions. Instead, their faces look calm + deliberate. How these dark scenarios come out of a guy that lives in the sunniest place on earth, I’m not sure. But I’m glad they do.

Wow. These are really confusing. And interesting at the same time. The first one – and the last one are really magical.

Very nice. It’s very original but also reminiscent of Odd Nerdrum’s work in some way.
