Michael Mccraw

Wow, Michael Mccraw is America. I love art that celebrates the US as the simultaneously beautiful + disgusting mess that it is. Michael’s work seems to explore that space where honest, hard work meets gluttony. Where 40 story buildings + huge, open space can exist within the same 5 square miles.

Oh, damn. As I was writing this, I discovered the 50 States Project, which Michael contributes to, as the photographer from Alabama. Basically, over the course of a year, 50 photographers (one from each state) are asked to complete 6 different projects. The end result is a collection of 300 photos from the 50 artists + their 50 states, respectively. Pretty awesome. You can read more + explore the project here.
